2024 Predictions and Trends in Emerging Technologies – Part 1<\/h3>\n

The first Newsletter<\/strong> of the year is an analysis of researches, data, forecasts and news (published by many authoritative sources) on the social and economic impacts<\/strong> that emerging technologies<\/strong> will have on people and companies in 2024<\/strong>, in order to understand what will happen regarding the Metaverse<\/strong>, Us<\/strong> and Web 3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It will be a year full of challenges<\/strong>, already anticipated by the 49th Ambrosetti Forum<\/strong> on the future and productivity of the Italian System<\/strong>. The themes presented on this occasion in Cernobbio, in September 2023, were energy sustainability<\/strong>, geopolitics<\/strong>, inflation<\/strong>, demography<\/strong> and above all new technologies<\/strong> (such as Artificial Intelligence<\/strong>) which will specialize and be customised<\/strong> for specific sectors.<\/p>\n

For the Metaverse<\/strong> and the XR<\/strong> (Experience Reality<\/strong>) sector are being reviewed the cases of Apple<\/strong> (with the launch of the Vision Pro<\/strong> in February), Meta<\/strong> (with the release of a new Augmented Reality viewer<\/strong>), the research of International Data Corporation<\/strong> (IDC<\/strong>) on the growth of the AR<\/strong>\/VR<\/strong> sector.<\/p>\n

As for Us<\/strong>, there is a growing tendency for people<\/strong> to move to a so-called “Onlife<\/strong>” state, such is the increase in activities that require a human-tech relationship<\/strong>. Limits of attention, need for a work-life balance, lack of interest in mediocre products (an Accenture<\/strong> research in this regard talks about “Meh-diocrity”<\/strong>), search for authenticity and transparency towards brands (with the ongoing change from Brand<\/strong> to “Brand Activist”<\/strong> in the quest for generating social values).<\/p>\nAccenture - Life Trends 2024 Report<\/a>\n

The cases of Twitch<\/strong>, Discord<\/strong> and other alternative platforms that younger generations<\/strong> have chosen to socialize in a more controlled and active way are examined too.<\/p>\n

McKinsey<\/strong>, in a research addressed to 4000 international CEOs (“What matters most? 8 CEO priorities for 2024”<\/strong>), finds a dystonia between the perception of the importance of specific “Technology Disruptors<\/strong>” and the practical actions to plan for having a profitable strategy<\/strong> in place that doesn’t just focus on details (or just an isolated technology, like AI<\/strong>).<\/p>\nMcKinsey - Priorities for CEOs in 2024<\/a>\n

There’s a lot going on in the world of Web 3<\/strong>, from Bitcoin<\/strong>-based ETF<\/strong>s to VISA<\/strong>‘s Web 3 customer loyalty initiatives.
