McKinsey – Eight priorities for CEOs in 2024

After having conducted interviews to hundreds of CEOs over the past year, McKinsey published a fresh report with previsions on “how companies can do better for society, communities, and employees — and the prosaic business of how they can pay for it all, and reward investors too”.

The main theme analysed in this research titled “What matters most? Eight priorities for CEOs in 2024” are:

  1. Gen AI: The start of something big
Generative Artificial Intelligence goes from proof of concept to scale.
  2. Outcompeting with technology
The means for getting results from digital and AI transformations.
  3. The energy transition: Time is short
As the Earth grows hotter commitments are abundant, but actions, not so much.
  4. What’s your superpower?
A distinctive capability can lift a company out of the mire of clogged, commoditized markets and on to the high ground of outperformance.
  5. Learn to love your middle managers
Companies need to rethink their philosophy about middle managers and recognize them for what they actually are: the core of the company.
  6. Geopolitics: Beating the odds
A new world order might be emerging from the current upheaval. Leaders can anticipate some shifts and position their companies for success while building geopolitical resilience.
