In the first Newsletter of the year we bring a summary of the most interesting news and researches related to Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, virtual worlds, social and lifestyle trends, always with a view to strategy, business, social and economic implications and business applications of these emerging technologies.
AI & XR
The exponential growth of AI is bringing great innovations on the Hardware, Software and Content fronts, especially in the XR field, with Immersive Technologies, and in Robotics.
At the same time, this growth is also contributing in distancing many users from social media.
Researches
Harvard Business Review has published “The Year in Tech 2025”, a research that examines our (human) near future in relation to the intersections between working life, AI, Robotics, Biometrics, visors and the increasingly presence of autonomous electric vehicles.
Accenture‘s “Life trends” examines the themes of Social and Generation AI, changes in attitudes towards technology and the increasingly present issue of fake content.
Hardware
Important entries in the administration of Meta, whose commitment, in the meantime, continues to Augmented Reality with glasses created in collaboration with Ray-Ban, and to Mixed Reality with glasses from the “Orion” project.
Samsung will present its new mixed reality viewer this January, while Black Magic (a reference brand for film production) has put its latest model of “Cine Immersive 180” camera on the market, with optics for filming 180° experiences, aimed, for example, at the world of Apple Vision.
Market
We have collected some end of season results and forecasts for the next period for the headset and viewer market, including corporate investments, industry, manufacturing and early adoptions.
Software
Google unveils the new Android XR operating system to support the world of immersive technologies. It has been introduced by citing a new “expanded” reality that will be managed by Gemini‘s AI.
Strategic partnerships
Microsoft and Meta are solidifying their collaboration, now that, after the innovations of its Hololens project, Microsoft has left the world of Mixed Reality.

We are witnessing an increase in immersive content for musical events, sports, documentaries and short films, with examples from both Apple and Meta, which has signed a collaboration with James Cameron (Avatar, Terminator…) for the Meta Quest world.
Infrastructures
New resources requested and results achieved, between sky and sea, for Elon Musk‘s Starlink, Mark Zuckerberg‘s “W” and for Web 3.0 in general.
AI
Project Mariner is Google‘s project to create an AI agent that can borrow the control of the Chrome browser to perform searches and obtain results for us.
Veo 2 is Google’s generative model for creating videos and virtual environments, a direct and stimulating competitor to AI systems like Sora, for example.
Augmented Eternity? Immortal digital twins are rapidly becoming a reality in the West side of the world too, generating ethical reflections on these hyper-realistic avatars. The Snapper Sentience company, Emily Chang of Bloomberg and the MIT in Boston are some of the vertices of this new area of our future that we are examining.
Apple Intelligence
Tim Cook underlines, in a new interview for Wired, the important link he wants to maintain between Artificial Intelligence and our health (while creating a solid “Healthtech” business).
Metaverses & virtual environments
Roblox confirmations and fresh Pirelli, Prada and MiuMiu news in the reality of virtual worlds.
